James Rothschild represents major corporate clients in a variety of matters, including employment discrimination, product liability, business disputes, negligence actions and white collar crime. Representative Matters

• Defended a foreign manufactured of wall heater in a large fire case in federal court and obtained summary judgment after disqualifying expert's opinion as not scientific.

• Represented a nationwide drugstore chain in five separate employment discrimination trials in federal courts in Maryland and New Jersey alleging racial discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation. Obtained jury verdict for the defendant in all of the cases.

• Defended a Fortune 500 company in product liability claim in federal court in Maryland involving broken fan shafts in the ventilation system at the Fort McHenry Tunnel. Obtained a jury verdict for the defendant.

• Represented a large, regional real estate information company in discrimination claim involving contents of information posted on residential real estate Web site.

• Represented a German company in multidistrict litigation in federal court involving a medical device used for back surgery. Stopped plaintiffs' burdensome discovery requests and obtained favorable settlements.

• Obtained summary judgment in a case involving photographs processed by a retail chain that depicted a naked child and were turned over to police. Appellate court upheld summary judgment.

• Represented a large national security firm in two wrongful death cases in Baltimore City . Obtained favorable settlements that included substantial participation by the codefendant.

• Represented a large commercial cemetery company in a grand jury tax investigation. No charges were brought against the company or its management.

• Represented an employee of large regional general contractor in a grand jury investigation.

• Represented a local real estate multiple listing system in a federal antitrust action in the trial court and United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

• Represented an international architectural design firm in state and federal courts regarding alleged copyright infringement and Lanham Act violations. Achieved a successful settlement for the client.
