Professional Profile

M. Bradley Hallwig represents local and national insurance companies and manufacturers in federal and state trial and appellate courts and before state administrative tribunals in complex tort, coverage and professional liability matters. More specifically, his trial work focuses on cases involving asbestos, lead paint and general civil litigation.

 

A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law, Mr. Hallwig is a member of the bar of the State of Maryland. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Representative Matters

¥ Represented one of the nationÕs largest liability insurers in coverage litigation in federal court involving policies with total limits exceeding $ 100 million in the aggregate. Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company v. Lafarge Corporation, 910 F. Supp. 1104 (D. Md. 1996).

¥ Established that a liability carrier can cease paying defense costs if plaintiffÕs allegations change to preclude covered claims, even though litigation commenced with the defense obligation triggered. BG&E v. Commercial Union, 113 Md. App. 540, 688 A.2d 496 (1997).

¥ Represented various manufacturers of products containing asbestos in complex litigation and resolved thousands of cases, including the trial by jury of over 100 cases in state and federal court.

¥ Represented numerous healthcare professionals in state and federal courts in cases of injury or death allegedly caused by professional negligence.
