Associate Edwin Keating won a defense verdict in Perrone v. X, D.D.S. The case involved a claim of dental malpractice against a general dentist. Specifically, the allegations of negligence were that the general dentist failed to properly perform an extraction of a wisdom tooth resulting in the Plaintiff's jaw being fractured.
After hearing testimony of the witnesses and reviewing the evidence in the case, the jury concluded that despite the fact that the Plaintiff's jaw had been fractured during the extraction procedure, the dentist had not deviated from the standards of care and returned a defense verdict.

Associate Emily Jordan Hammann again obtained a defense judgment in the de novo appeal of Smith v. L., DDS in the Circuit Court for Prince Georges County. The case involved the crowning of six of the Plaintiff's front teeth for both medical and cosmetic reasons. The Plaintiff appealed the case and alleged dental malpractice claiming the crowns did not fit properly. Additionally, Plaintiff attempted to enter into evidence an undated, unsigned expert report from a subsequent treating dentist. The Circuit Court held that Plaintiff's expert report containing opinions regarding Defendant's treatment of Plaintiff was not admissible without a signature or date because the Court could not determine its authenticity, and because the Defendant was unable to cross examine the report. Finding that the Plaintiff failed to prove there was a breach in the standard of care, the Circuit Court affirmed the judgment for the Defendant.

It was undisputed that Defendant's speed at the time of the impact was 5 mph. The Defendant admitted liability but disputed the Plaintiffs' injuries and their $13,000 chiropractic bill. The jury deliberated approximately five minutes and awarded no damages.

The case involved a claim by Plaintiff that a Home Depot sub-contractor negligently installed a shower in Plaintiff's home that leaked, rendering the shower unusable. Plaintiff alleged that the work was covered by a life-time warranty and that despite Home Depot's attempts to fix the shower, it still leaked causing damage to her home. The Court ruled that Home Depot's expert sufficiently established that the leak was the result of another prior contractor's work thus the life-time warranty did not apply and that Home Depot's good will in attempting to fix the problem did not amount to admission of liability.
